Key responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the planning, the execution and the documentation of project-specific process development activities in interaction with technicians for the execution of the work in the pilot plant.
2. Collect, summarize, analyze data to prepare development reports and presentations.
3. Responsible to establish timely and qualitatively the required working instructions and/or process description for scientists and technicians.
4. Represent the team in group and project team meetings and/or customer meetings.
5. Responsible of process implementation from customer or another Lonza site into Visp Pilot Lab.
6. Responsible for experimental design set-up in regard to upstream process verification, bioreactor characterization and filter sizing (normal filtration, depth filtration).
Key requirements:
1. MSc./PhD. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines
2. 2-3 years of industry experience
3. Broad biotechnology expertise and/or knowledge in the area of Mammalian cell culture and Upstream process development (Fed-batch and perfusion systems)
4. Experience in expression of various recombinant proteins in mammalian cells in bioreactors at 50L to 200L scale or larger scales.
5. Experience in running single-use bioreactor systems and primary recovery depth filtration
6. Understanding of scale-up / -down of key parameters in mammalian upstream processes
7. GMP understanding
8. DSP and analytics associated to Mab purification and characterization understanding
9. Fluent in English, French and German basic understanding
10. Very good communications skills and structured, focused and well-organized working attitude
