Activities & Responsibilities
* Geotechnical design preparation, with a special focus on underground works for hydraulic applications such as tunnels (power waterways, water transfer tunnels, and related access adits), powerhouse caverns, gate chambers, shafts, and portals, spanning from early-stage design to construction.
* Numerical modeling of geotechnical problems related to underground works, particularly addressing challenges involving advanced constitutive modeling for soil and rock mechanics.
* Excavation and structural design activities related to underground projects.
* Preparation of drafting instructions and supervision of teams of technicians and modelers to create drawings for excavation, support, and final lining, covering the full design process from preliminary to construction phases.
* Preparation of Technical Specifications for the execution of works.
* Monitoring of procedures implemented at construction sites for Quality Assessment/Quality Control and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
* Preparation of tender documents for tunnels, caverns, chambers, shafts, and related works.
* Participation in the preparation of engineering offers (methodologies and technical solutions).
* Short-term assignments abroad to support site activities, attend site meetings, etc.
Requirements profile
* Master’s degree in Civil Engineering – PhD in Geotechnics is highly valued.
* At least 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering for underground works, with a preference for experience in hydropower projects.
* Strong knowledge of rock and soil mechanics.
* Extensive experience in numerical modeling of geotechnical issues related to soils and rocks.
* Familiarity with international standards and guidelines for tunnel design.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical details in a clear, friendly, and effective manner.
* Proficiency in both written and spoken English is mandatory, with fluency in either French or German also required.
* Strong command of MS Office is essential. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
