A Key Role in Shaping Our Strategic Direction Xylem seeks to hire a Vice President of Strategy and Business Development to support continued growth and evolution as a leading global solution provider in the water sector.
You will play a critical role in shaping our strategic direction, identifying and analyzing new strategic growth opportunities, developing new partnerships and alliances, and coordinating selected cross-enterprise strategic initiatives.

Main Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Initiative Management:
Lead long-term Segment strategy by defining priorities, developing and communicating long-term strategies and the Long-Range Plan (LRP)
Create and facilitate the strategic planning process including translating the strategy into KPI's
Responsible for reporting business metrics monthly and driving business reviews at the Segment level
Develop consistent framework and tools for macro leading indicators as input for the segment performance assessment
Identify and prioritize strategic initiatives, ensure initiatives are aligned with priorities and support the development of the execution plan
Set and share guidance on initiative management (incl. tools and template development), monitor and report on the progress of strategic initiatives
Business Development:
Responsible for market identification and assessment through performing value mapping and identifying profitable growth areas for investment
Develop and maintain the pipeline of potential M&A targets and strategic inorganic partnerships
Prioritize targets for evaluation, conduct due diligence on selected targets and coordinate with stakeholders
Execute M&A process from NDA and closing until successful integration in collaboration with the central business development team
Lead divestitures and coordinate involvement of key stakeholders
Market Insights:
Centralize resources on market insights (both internal e.g., vertical marketing and external)
Proactive research and intelligence through conducting targeted research on markets, competitors, emerging technologies, and other ext. factors
Perform, manage, and consolidate ad-hoc market analysis requests from the business
Disseminate insights across the organization, holding regular SAM meetings and contributing to Monthly Business Reviews
Requirements Bachelor's degree in business administration or engineering, MBA preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategy and business development roles
Experience working in a multinational company or management consulting firm, 'Big 4' advisory or a similar background with strategic growth/inorganic growth experience in a relevant industry/business segment
Proven track record in strategy development and Business Development and successfully operationalizing
Knowledge of the water industry and familiarity with adjacent business areas, such as utilities, industrial process, and the internet of things
Experience working in a professional services environment with tight deadlines and a focus on complex client deliverables
Distinguishing critical thinking and analytic capabilities, with the ability to solve highly ambiguous business problems
Influencing skills, with proven ability to align stakeholders at multiple levels, drive consensus within the organization, and develop trust based executive level relationships
Strong teamwork skills – ability to successfully work cross-functionally, ability to achieve results through influence vs. authority
Excellent written and oral communications skills – ability to crisply and concisely convey complex information to executives
Ability to work in a fast-paced company and partnering with the enterprise strategy and marketing teams to ensure alignment and effective execution
Fluency in English; other languages are advantageous
