JOB PURPOSE
The Credit Risk Analyst will be tasked with assessing and evaluating counterparty risk, taking into consideration available country risk indicators and financial information. The analyst will be responsible for timely analysis, reporting, and monitoring of credit limit utilization, with reference to a selected panel of countries as assigned. The Credit Analyst will approve counterparty credit requests in accordance with the delegated authorities as per the COFCO International credit policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform hands-on credit analysis of trading counterparties and daily follow-up of relevant industry news and other alerts with potential impact on the credit portfolios;
2. Manage credit approval process in a timely manner and with proper justifications;
3. Set up internal credit ratings and credit limits and conduct periodic reviews;
4. Ensure counterparty risk is managed and controlled following the company’s policies and credit appetite;
5. Keep up-to-date watchlist with open defaults, concerns, legal cases, and overdue accounts and communicate in line with group requirements;
6. Keep up to date “No Trading” list and communicate in line with group requirements;
7. Report timely on breaches to Credit Policy in line with group requirements;
8. Review and report regularly credit exposure in line with group requirements;
9. Provide trading desks with guidelines to help them comply with credit policies;
10. Provide leadership to credit risk management in the region;
11. Become a strong partner to trading desks and other support functions. Actively generate connections to facilitate partnership and collaboration;
12. Collaborate with credit risk teams in the headquarters and other regions for cross-coverage;
13. Proactively identify opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of existing processes and controls;
14. Support the risk department on projects as assigned;
15. Understand and assess the risks associated with physical transactions with various counterparties.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field of study;
2. 3+ years of credit risk, product control, or Finance experience gained at trading companies, preferably with exposure to the Agribusiness or Energy sector. In-depth knowledge of the European and African markets is a plus;
3. In-depth analysis of financial statements and qualitative information to derive credit opinions;
4. Proficient in Microsoft Excel;
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences across all levels of seniority;
6. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships;
7. Identifying early warning signals, doubtful credit, and bankruptcies;
8. Influence without direct authority;
9. Strong analytical and control skills;
10. Knowledge of credit tools (Moody’s, Orbis, etc);
11. Fluent in English, and any other language is a plus.
OPTIONAL
1. Experience in CVA, PFE, credit risk netting agreements, and implementation of credit systems;
2. Credit insurance knowledge;
3. Knowledge of Power BI.
