Job Description:
As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).
Your Responsibilities:
1. Detailed design, planning and cost control in their sub-project.
2. Maintain the legal aviation & safety requirements in their operations and implement them.
3. Maintain the legal aviation & safety requirements in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework (EASA Part-21, J and CS27).
4. Inform about possible project risks related to their tasks.
5. Implement the applicable design guidelines for the parts they work on.
Tasks:
1. Develop mechanical products by studying requirements, researching and testing information, manufacturing and assembly methods and applied materials to achieve a sub project design which complies with the product requirements.
2. Collaborate with other team members on a technical level to achieve a mature design of their subsystem.
3. Assure system and product quality by reviewing fabrication methods, assembly methods and installation processes to achieve a well-established manufacturing and assembly process.
4. Conduct part and assembly drawings with all the required information for the production and assembly of the part or system to achieve a clearly defined design according to Kopter’s procedures and applicable standards.
5. Conduct their work by using appropriate aerospace analysis methodologies and in accordance with the applicable regulatory frameworks (EASA Part-21, J and CS27) and applicable Kopter business standards.
6. Use computer-aided design 3D CAD software to design subsystems to achieve a 3D defined model of the system.
7. Create technical specifications to achieve well-defined process and product information.
8. Support and conduct experimental, environmental, operational and stress tests on models and prototypes of aircraft and aerospace systems and equipment to achieve the proper level of system testing.
9. Attend the assembly and fitting of aircraft and components to achieve an understanding of the assembling process and improve the design and instructions of the system.
10. Conduct presentations to managers and other team members to achieve a similar understanding of the system.
Minimum Requirements:
1. University degree in mechanical engineering, or similar related engineering degree.
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the aerospace industry, preferably with transmission systems or structural design.
3. Must have 3D CAD experience.
4. Must have experience to understand and create manufacturing and assembly drawings.
5. Preferred experience in manufacturing processes related to aerospace.
6. Preferable experience in aerospace system testing.
7. Preferable experience in certification of aerospace systems.
8. Very good English spoken and written (minimum B2).
