About the Role:
As a member of our chemical process development team at Arxada in Visp, Switzerland, you will be responsible for developing and scaling up new chemical processes in laboratory settings. This includes experimental planning, data analysis, research report writing, customer presentations, and documentation. You will also oversee laboratory professionals, train interns, and optimize lab workflows.
This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, demonstrating scientific and technical leadership, and contributing to the department's ongoing development and Arxada's success.
* Develop, implement, and maintain procedures and processes in chemical synthesis and process up-scaling
* Lead projects, plan experiments, and supervise laboratory work in batch, semi-batch, and continuous modes
* Analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to stakeholders
* Participate in customer meetings, develop relationships, and potentially lead project management initiatives
* Oversee, develop, and coach 1-2 laboratory technicians
* Evaluate trends, innovations, and cost estimates for new projects and customer inquiries
* Advanced degree in organic chemistry (Ph.D. or equivalent qualification)
* Significant knowledge of process development and technical understanding of chemical processes on an industrial level
* Ability to work experimentally in a laboratory setting and contribute to a dynamic team
* Structured approach to work and strong problem-solving skills
* Experience with design of experiments (DoE) approaches, statistical analysis, and continuous process concepts
* Excellent communication skills in English and German, with basic project management knowledge
