Your role and responsibilities
Are you ready for new challenges, eager to work on real projects, and driven to shape a sustainable future? The ABB Discovery Trainee Program offers a unique entry point with dynamic roles in an international company. Over 18 months, you’ll complete three six-month assignments focused on Gearless Mill Drives (GMD). GMDs are electromechanical systems powering the world's largest rock grinding mills, essential for sustainable grinding due to their efficiency. At ABB, we make GMDs reliable and productive, using advanced tech like cloud-based analytics and AI for predictive maintenance. With personalized, hands-on experience, you’ll gain confidence, work in inclusive teams, and access development opportunities to fast-track your career. The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid. Start date of the program is April 1, 2025. The selection process is taking place between October and November 2024. • Assignment 1 in Switzerland: product management, System engineering, Reliability & Maintenance Engineering; understanding product portfolio, design criteria through learning on the job in global projects. Assignment 2 abroad: joining a commissioning on a customer site abroad and/or supporting an ABB unit abroad. Assignment 3 in Switzerland: assignment to be jointly shaped by the business and trainee. Possible fields of exposure: R&D, product management, project management, service (reliability and maintenance Engineering team), or engineering. • Engage in challenging assignments that allow you to explore various functions and roles, fully integrating into the team while discovering your interests. • Benefit from personalized training, professional mentoring, executive exposure, and support from the Discovery Program team, while receiving regular feedback to develop your strengths. • Actively participate in social events and team activities, build a global network within ABB, and join the vibrant ABB trainee community.
Qualifications for the role
* Master’s degree from university or applied science university in electrical engineering
* Completed university studies and maximum three years of professional work experience before the start date April 1, 2025
* Strong knowledge of English; fluency or proficiency in other languages is a plus
* Authorization to work in Switzerland is required (at least B permit)
