A Day in the Life Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to specialize in the development of Equipment Controller Software for industrial machines in a medical devices manufacturing environment. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and maintenance of advanced software solutions that control manufacturing equipment and ensure seamless communication between systems. You will be responsible for driving technical innovation, implementing best practices, and ensuring that software solutions meet both regulatory and operational requirements.
This position requires deep expertise in C#, Python, and DevOps practices, as well as extensive experience with TCP/IP and OPC UA communication protocols. As a Senior Engineer, you will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across multiple teams, and have ownership of complex technical challenges within the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead Software Development for Equipment Control:
o Design, develop, and implement software solutions for controlling industrial machines in a medical device manufacturing environment.
o Ensure reliable and secure communication between equipment using TCP/IP and OPC UA protocols.
o Develop high-performance, scalable software applications using C# and Python, with a focus on maintaining and enhancing existing systems.
* Collaborate and Influence Cross-Functional Teams:
o Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, IT, and regulatory teams to integrate new systems and optimize equipment control processes.
o Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in best practices and solving complex engineering challenges.
* Quality Assurance and Testing:
o Design and execute comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure software quality and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
o Lead continuous improvement efforts for software quality, troubleshooting, and optimizing manufacturing operations.
* DevOps Practices and Automation:
o Drive the implementation and maintenance of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of equipment control software.
o Leverage DevOps tools such as Docker, Jenkins, and others to ensure seamless software delivery and operational efficiency.
* Technical Leadership and Innovation:
o Stay current with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements to drive innovation within the team.
o Take ownership of the most complex technical challenges, propose solutions, and execute them effectively within the scope of regulatory requirements.
* Documentation and Compliance:
o Lead the development and maintenance of thorough documentation for all software development activities, including design specifications, test plans, technical manuals, and user guides.
o Ensure software development adheres to regulatory standards, including ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and other applicable medical device standards.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* 5+ years of experience in software development, including at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role within a regulated industry (preferably manufacturing or industrial automation).
Technical Skills
* Expert-level proficiency in C# with substantial experience in Python for software development.
* Extensive experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes).
* In-depth understanding of TCP/IP and OPC UA communication protocols, with experience in industrial equipment communication integration.
* Experience in leading the design and implementation of unit testing frameworks and UAT methodologies.
* Strong background in industrial control systems and their integration (e.g., PLC, SCADA).
* Deep knowledge of regulatory standards, including ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and other relevant industry standards.

* Strong problem-solving ability with keen attention to detail.

* Experience in the medical devices manufacturing industry or other highly regulated environments.
