On behalf of our client, LHH is looking for a dynamic results-oriented Business Development Manager (m/w/d) with previous experience as Commercial Site Manager for client acquisition (project acquisition) in the Heavy Construction Sector across Europe while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment, having hands-on engagement and requiring frequent interaction with top-tier industry stakeholders.
Work location: Zurich, Switzerland
Employment contract will be directly with our client: 100% full-time permanent position
Note: This position doesn't include people management responsibilities
Your responsibilities:
* Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:
-Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the heavy construction sector and related sectors across Europe.
-Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
* Project Cost Control Management
* Strategic Market Development:
-Develop and implement business development plans.
-Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitor activities, and potential partnerships.
* Commercial Expertise (PPPs):
-Leverage knowledge of bid and tendering processes to participate in and win competitive projects.
-Collaborate with internal teams to prepare proposals and negotiate contracts with clients.
-Support and manage project finance processes for the issuance of bonds and letters of guarantees as well as managing relationship with banks and ECAs
* Travel Requirements:
-Travel across Europe approximately two times per month for a few days to meet clients, attend industry events, and represent the company in key negotiations
Your profile:
* Proven COMMERCIAL international experience from the heavy construction or related sectors (engineering infrastructure / construction)
* Previous work experience as Commercial Site Manager or similar function
* Strong understanding of commercial aspects of project acquisition, including bid and tendering processes related to the heavy civil infrastructure (PPPs)
* Fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish or Italian is a plus.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and nurture long-term client relationships.
* Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.
* Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Europe.
* Proactive, goal-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
