Offer Description
Company Description
At CERN, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments. They study the basic constituents of matter by colliding fundamental particles at close to the speed of light, providing insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Job Description
Introduction
Are you ready to work on one of the most advanced vacuum systems on the planet? With 130 km of cutting-edge vacuum vessels, CERN operates one of the largest and most complex vacuum systems ever built. Join the Vacuum, Surfaces, and Coatings Group and be part of something extraordinary!
The Vacuum, Surfaces, and Coatings (VSC) Group oversees all high and ultra-high vacuum systems across the CERN accelerators. The Interlocks, Controls and Monitoring section (ICM) is responsible for the controls and monitoring of all the vacuum instrumentation and actuators across CERN’s accelerator chain.

* Define and configure appropriate test strategies and environments, establish test procedures, and coordinate deployment and system updates;
* Ensure the availability and reliability of production systems in collaboration with CERN services, internal users, and external partners;
* Monitor and analyse the performance of vacuum operational systems; propose and implement enhancements;
* Deliver technical support to internal users; gather and analyse feedback for system improvements;
* Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the lifecycle of the systems, including technical reports and user manuals.
Qualifications
Master's degree or PhD in Computing Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
* Developing and operating controls software framework for accelerators, based on WinCC-OA/QT C++ SCADA;
* Designing applications for large control systems based on relational databases and modern web technologies (Java, Spring Boot, ReactJs, Oracle databases, OKD cloud);
* Preparing, scheduling, and executing controls software upgrades;
* Applying software quality assurance techniques (GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, unit tests);
