Summary This is a field-based position in the Zurich-Basel-Lucerne-Aarau-St.Gallen region of Switzerland.
Purpose of the role: The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a field-based Medical Affairs Associate at Novartis, responsible for developing and leading scientific engagement and long-term relationships with Medical Experts/Key Stakeholders within the healthcare environment. This role involves preparing and supporting the development, launch, and commercialization of Novartis products through scientific exchange, seeking external insights to shape Novartis’ understanding of the therapeutic environment, and responding to unsolicited requests for scientific information.
About the Role This is a field-based position.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage with Medical Experts (MEs) to educate on medical/scientific information.
Ensure appropriate identification/mapping of MEs/Key Accounts and identify opportunities to involve MEs when specific medical needs arise.
Develop and execute ME engagement plans aligned with country strategy.
Respond to unsolicited requests for information from MEs.
Inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful insights from MEs.
Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, commercial, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment and effective delivery of medical information and insights.
Develop, plan, implement, and execute field medical tactics and engagement plans aligned with brand strategy.
Support Novartis clinical research programs and provide scientific educational support to potential and actual study sites in collaboration with clinical operations.
Facilitate the Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) process upon investigator request.
Serve as a medical resource to field matrix colleagues.
What you’ll bring to the role:
MD, PharmaD, or PhD degree in health/life sciences with solid medical/technical background and expertise in the respective scientific area.
Near-native fluency in German and English; knowledge of French is an asset.
Good knowledge of drug development, GCP, and local regulations.
Demonstrated excellence in collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Strong analytical and planning skills.
Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills.
Digital and technology savvy.
Readiness to work in a field force team.
Willingness to travel within the assigned geographic area as required.
Several years of experience in Pharma, preferably in a similar role with a strong customer/patient focus.
Experience in project management and planning of events is a plus.
