Audi F1 Project - Shape the Future of Motorsport
Welcome to the Audi F1 Project. We are excited to compete in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.
Our team has two locations: Audi's Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg, Germany, and the Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil, Switzerland.
The Challenge
We are seeking an experienced Thermal Simulation Engineer to join our Systems group at Sauber in Hinwil, Switzerland.
Your mission will be to develop innovative and effective thermal solutions for the power unit cooling systems.
* You will use 1D / 3D simulations to investigate concepts and complete design validation against programme targets.
* You will work closely with our Aerodynamic, Design and Vehicle Performance groups as well as our Power Unit colleagues in Neuburg to implement thermal solutions.
* You will contribute to the calibration and correlation of the computational and physical modelling toolsets used for thermal predictions.
* You will investigate and validate concepts with test benches and track testing and analyse and support track operations with event specific predictions.
* You will contribute to our continual development of toolsets and procedures to reduce development times, improve testing accuracy and aid data analysis.
Your Profile
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Degree qualification in a mechanical, aeronautical or science discipline.
* Solid knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics fundamentals, ideally with experience in F1 power unit thermal simulations.
* Experience with simulation tools such as GT Suite, Kuli, Matlab / Simulink and experience in data analysis (proficiency in programming an advantage).
* At least 5 years' experience in a thermodynamics / aerodynamics environment, ideally in high level motorsport.
* Professional proficiency in English for effective report communication.
* Excellent teamwork, communication & organisational skills.
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure and with a keen sense of responsibility.
