The Head of Sustainability is responsible for implementing FIA’s sustainability vision and strategy across the organization and the FIA community. Reporting directly to the Sustainability and D&I Director, this role leads a dedicated sustainability team, ensuring that all initiatives align with FIA’s Environmental Strategy and broader sustainability objectives. This role involves working cross-functionally with FIA member clubs, internal units, motorsport stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and international organizations to drive measurable impact. MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES: Strategic Leadership & Implementation Lead the Sustainability activity and its team, ensuring successful implementation of the Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion strategy. Oversee sustainability initiatives across sport and mobility, with a focus but not limited to carbon management, biodiversity, and air pollution. Position the FIA within the global sustainability conversation by actively participating in key events, such as Sustainability Forums or UN climate conferences. Develop a sustained communication and behaviour change strategy to inform consumers and empower road users and fans to adopt more sustainable mobility patterns, in cooperation with relevant organisations. Act as an advisor and advocate for sustainability within FIA’s internal departments. Represent FIA at key internal and external events when relevant. Operational Management Lead the FIA Sport Environment & Sustainability Commission, ensuring measurable progress and consistent reporting to the Sustainability and D&I Committee and the World Motor Sport Council. Coordinate and develop FIA’s sustainability research to drive a knowledge-based transition to a net-zero future for road sport. Equip member clubs and motorsport stakeholders with guidelines, toolkits, training, and best practices to enhance sustainability in their operations. Commercial Strategy Explore innovative funding mechanisms to support FIA’s sustainability programs. Support the identification of opportunities for potential commercial partnerships to further sustainability initiatives. Support new business development, regulatory, and financial models that will ultimately benefit all motorsport stakeholders. PROFILE: Post-graduate degree in Environmental Management or related field. 8+ years in a sustainability-related role with at least 5 years in a leadership position. Strong expertise in climate strategy, biodiversity, circular economy, and carbon management. Fluency in English and French; Spanish is an asset. Experience in advocacy, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement at a global level. Ability to work in a complex, political, and dynamic multi-cultural environment and under pressure. Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and partnership skills. Strong team management skills and proven track record of successfully managing international teams.
