What it's about
Partners Group is looking for an experienced senior tax leader that will lead a highly dynamic team of investment tax professionals and will be responsible for all our private market investment tax matters (transactions, clients and products) in Europe and APAC. The role will involve working with internal and external stakeholders and requires a proven track record of managing complex tax matters, strong communication and analytical skills, excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills. This is a critical role that requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. This role reports to Partners Group’s Head of Tax.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting investment teams in high-profile/material transaction tax related aspects for all investment classes (Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Debt)
Managing transaction tax due diligence, structures and exit tax planning in Europe and APAC with a focus on complex direct and secondary transactions
Managing tax aspects of Partners Group fund/product structuring, client tax reporting as well as fund and SPV compliance. Relevant jurisdictions include, but are not limited to Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Singapore, Australia, and United Kingdom
Driving strategic tax initiatives
Managing the relationship with members of the Investment Committees and other senior internal stakeholders
Monitor and evaluate impact of new tax regulation in Europe/APAC on our investment and product structures
Managing outside tax counsels, monitoring their performance and further strengthening our operating model
Training of investment, legal and other internal teams in tax matters
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the members of the Investment Tax Europe / APAC team, contribute to their professional development and growth
What we expect:
12+ years of relevant experience as a tax lawyer with a highly recognized law firm or Big 4 and ideally a few years industry experience as an in-house tax counsel
Extensive experience in M&A tax work for investment funds and investors in investment funds
Experience in cross-border tax matters involving the main European and APAC countries
Experienced leader with an entrepreneurial, pragmatic, solution-oriented and end-to-end thinking mindset
Excellent communication and analytical skills, high attention to details and legal and finance aspects of tax work
Top academic credentials and advanced degree (e.g., LL.M., MBA in finance, law school or equivalent)
Fluent in English, and German being a plus
