Position Overview
The Account Coordinator is a junior account role responsible for supporting account leads with critical activities such as brainstorming campaign ideas, drafting high-quality written materials, monitoring for and reporting media coverage, maintaining press kits and trackers, staffing client events, and building relationships with editors, journalists, and influencers.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Support
* Build and nurture relationships with account staff, key clients, and agency partners.
* Provide account leads with tactical support to ensure client success.
* Brainstorm ideas for marketing and public relations campaigns.
* Develop high-quality client-facing and press-facing deliverables such as strategic approaches, decks, pitches, press releases, media statements, Q&As, and social media copy.
* Participate in client meetings, including preparing or updating agendas and presenting deliverables.
Media Relations
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of clients’ industries, products, customers, and markets.
* Build and maintain relationships with editors, journalists, and influencers in clients’ sectors.
* Develop editorial angles and send pitches.
* Research and maintain media and influencer lists.
* Send product mailers to media and influencer contacts.
* Demonstrate success pitching journalists and garnering earned media results.
Reporting
* Maintain earned media and product request trackers.
* Monitor for and report media and influencer coverage in a timely fashion for assigned client accounts.
* Create monthly, quarterly, or year-end recaps presenting results.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
* 1-3 years of experience in account management or a similar role within a communications agency or large company.
* Demonstrated professionalism and poise in face-to-face and online communications.
* Ability to consistently craft strong written deliverables such as creative presentations, messaging materials, press releases, and executive briefings.
* Willingness to work in a self-directed and focused manner, asking for support when needed.
* Familiarity with tools such as Google Drive, Slack, and Canva.
* Comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
