The Human Resources Director plays a crucial role in the onboard HR Team, serving as the primary business partner to the Master of the Vessel and the management team. They champion company values and ensure their effective implementation.
Key Accountabilities
1. Collaborates with senior leaders, ship and shore-based, to identify people requirements and develop tailored solutions that support the vessel's evolving needs, guided by company values.
2. Works closely with the Crew Office to implement processes & procedures, including Couple Policies, Internal Mobility, Change in Contract Period, Compassionate Leaves, Resignations, Engagement Proposals, etc., in a timely and correct manner.
3. Acts as a neutral advisor to the Master/Staff Captain/Chief Security/HoDs, fostering a safe work environment and consistent disciplinary actions. Leads investigations related to these roles, adhering to Rule of Shipboard Conduct, and keeps the Staff Captain and shoreside representatives informed as necessary.
4. In conjunction with the Staff Captain, is responsible for investigations involving crew members and participates in disciplinary actions.
5. Ensures the proper implementation of the performance management process and addresses concerns as needed.
6. Monitors shipboard operations to ensure compliance with HR Policies and Procedures, Global HESS, MLC 2006, relevant Fleet Regulations, and other applicable internal, external, and governmental regulations at all times; promptly reports any deficiencies to the Master and Shoreside HR Team as relevant.
7. Sets up and delivers Learning & Development activities in line with Corporate HR guidelines and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
1. Master's degree in Human Resource Management/HRD or Psychology/Business Administration, or CIPD qualification.
2. Five years of experience in a similar role, managing hundreds of employees in a multinational context. Experience in this role within the cruise industry is highly valued.
3. Proven experience in managing complex employee relations cases and change management programs.
4. Able to establish professional relationships quickly, provide authoritative advice on workforce issues, and demonstrate advanced influencing/negotiating/presentation skills.
5. Extensive knowledge of maritime industry regulations, laws, and MLC 2006.
6. Proficient in MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint.
7. Fluent in English (C1 level) and proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
