The Laboratory of Energy Science and Engineering (LESE) headed by Prof. Müller (ETH Zürich, Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering) is looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in material development and characterization for electrocatalytic applications. LESE is focusing on the development, characterization, and advancement of (solid) CO2 sorbents and catalysts.
Job description Specifically, in this project we aim to develop a new class of active, yet inexpensive catalysts, based on first row transition metals, for the alkaline oxygen evolution reaction. In addition to making fundamental advances in material design, the electrocatalysts developed in this project will be integrated into an electrolysis setup, in which their competitiveness with state-of-the-art catalysts will be critically assessed from both performance and economic perspectives. This research activity is funded by the Swiss Office of Energy.
Profile Applicants for the position are expected to have a PhD in Chemistry, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering. Experience in the fields of material synthesis as well as the physical and electrochemical characterization of inorganic materials is expected. We are looking for motivated, committed, creative individuals able to work in a team and with excellent communication skills. The position is available from April 2025 onwards.
