What will your essential responsibilities include?
1. Learn how to review and establish pricing for new and renewal business by administering, reviewing and analyzing account information, and understand how the underwriter comes to the decision on whether to accept or decline a risk.
2. Review and prepare client and exposure data, provide and structure the necessary information for peer reviews and committee referrals in order to support the underwriting process and learn how to read and understand insurance policies/ reinsurance treaties.
3. Ensure that all information is entered on the respective underwriting, pricing and data storage systems and is kept up to date and accurate.
4. Promptly process slips and wordings, monitoring and assisting with the chasing premium and claims to facilitate effective cash flow management.
5. Support implementation of business development activities and ad hoc project work including, but not limited to: portfolio optimization, identification of key brokers and markets, action plans from marketing activities.
6. Coordinate with other reinsurance offices within International Re and other business units e.g. Finance, Actuarial, Segment Operations and Claims.
7. Work alongside actuaries to develop your technical skills, improve your ability to price risks and understand how exposures are measured at portfolio level.
8. Support the Underwriters by attending and participating at internal and external client / broker meetings and build and maintain relations with brokers and clients to maximize underwriting opportunities.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
1. Academic requirement: Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent.
2. Fluency in English, any additional European language is of advantage.
3. Experience in a Financial Services environment of advantage.
4. Excellent working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
5. Creative problem-solver and analytical thinker who can demonstrate adaptability and accuracy, along with sharp numerical and logical skills and an ability to make decisions independently, using own judgment.
6. Strong organizing skills, including effective scheduling, prioritization and time management skills. Able to complete tasks to tight deadlines. Demonstration of a ‘can do’ attitude, even under demanding circumstances.
7. Ability to perform in a pressurized environment and adjusting comfortably to changing conditions and priorities, especially during the busy renewal season.
8. Comfortable taking ownership for work, identifying the need for action whilst working effectively within a team.
