Postdoc in Agroecology and Soil Health
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to our research team at Agroscope, the Swiss federal centre of excellence for research in agriculture and food.
Our researchers work at various sites across Switzerland, with the main office located in Bern-Liebefeld (from 2026: Posieux), which is affiliated with the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER.
About the Position
* You will investigate soil health and ecosystem functions in European living labs, employing participatory tools for soil assessments in collaboration with farmers.
* You will assess how these tools reflect changes in soil health and its relation to ecosystem functioning using the Faoutool TAPE.
* Interacting with farmers to jointly develop best practices for agroecological systems.
* Piloting a circular resource recycling strategy together with farmers, retailers, and consumers to recycle food and organic waste supporting crop production and soil health.
* Project management and participation in international consortium meetings.
Your Profile
* You hold a PhD in soil science, agronomy, ecology, botany, microbial ecology, or related fields.
* You have experience in analyzing soils' chemical, physical, or biological properties.
* Interaction with farmers, composting, microbial community analyses, or assessing multi-dimensional performance of agroecological systems are advantages.
* You possess good statistical skills, ideally using R, and a well-structured working style with excellent communication skills.
* Knowledge of two official Swiss languages and English is essential.
