Job Overview
Our client, a Swiss International Engineering and Construction development company based in Zurich, is seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee project delivery and commercial teams while driving business development initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Strategic Planning: Contribute to business development efforts by driving strategic planning for new projects and market expansion.
* Business Development: Identify potential leads and evaluate new project or investment opportunities in targeted regions.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Forge strategic alliances with companies, suppliers, and key stakeholders to enhance growth prospects.
* Brand Visibility: Represent the company at industry events, trade fairs, and networking meetings to build brand visibility and uncover new business prospects.
* Tender Preparation: Assist in preparing tenders, including cost analysis and coordinating with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners.
* Procurement Strategy: Develop procurement strategies and lead procurement operations during both tender preparation and project execution.
* Contract Management: Oversee and contribute to the drafting and management of contracts throughout the lifecycle of assets.
* Project Financing: Manage project financing tasks, including securing bonds and guarantees, and maintaining relationships with financial institutions and export credit agencies (ECAs).
* Customer Relations: Cultivate strong client relationships, addressing concerns and queries to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Financial Oversight: Monitor project costs and progress with support from the Planning and Control team to ensure objectives are met.
* Team Collaboration: Participate in discussions and meetings with clients, funding entities, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders.
* Resource Allocation: Collaborate with external consultants to establish appropriate resource levels while ensuring contractual and risk management processes are effectively implemented.
* Cash Flow Management: Enhance financial oversight by ensuring accurate invoicing, revenue tracking, and cash flow management within the Project Delivery teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
* Minimum 10 years of professional experience, with site-based construction experience being advantageous.
* Ability to identify business development opportunities and recognize market trends.
* Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
* Desirable experience in transport, renewable energy, or water infrastructure projects.
* Proficiency in office productivity tools and software.
* Comprehensive understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
* Significant experience in project controls, scheduling, cost management, or project coordination.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with strong communication and team-building skills.
* Process-oriented with a focus on achieving consistent results.
* Positive and proactive attitude when addressing challenges.
* Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of additional languages is considered a plus.
* European passport is mandatory.
