Development Delivery Department
The Development Delivery team is responsible for the entire process flow of delivering the physical data centers from shovel ready, installation, commissioning and through handover. Working with Sales, Operations, and management along the way, the Delivery team is an essential side of the business in providing customer confidence. The team also manages Vantage’s build partners to success through technical feedback and review, actively participating in review of schedule and budget. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our construction teams are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process. When compared to external resources, our internal team can ensure the key stakeholders are engaged in the decision-making process to align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high-impact decisions and even more impactful results.
Position Description
Vantage is looking for an ambitious and self-starting Senior Mechanical Project Manager to drive core project coordination efforts across a wide spectrum of ongoing construction projects. The Delivery model is to have regional specialist discipline leads, in this case Mechanical, to ensure that VDC, customer standards, best practices, innovative Mechanical design and execution is delivered to a high standard across our projects in the Zurich region. The role will form part of a core team of specialists to own and manage all aspects of delivery.
This is a wide ranging role with the benefit of having no similar days and covers all stages of data center construction. Duties include Data center design review and coordination alongside our SME’s, design coordination, Pre-construction Design/Contractor/subcontractor scope preparation review and execution. Mechanical Scope and contract review. Coordination with OFCI management teams, vendors, specification review and on Site QAQC. Initiate/coordinate Mechanical Commissioning plans, schedules activity sequences with the General Contractors, QAQC logic/time for Cx activities and sync with Cx Agent.
Essential Job Functions
* Manage individual tasks throughout the construction process, from design to handover. This includes design reviews, vendor engagement, quality control of delivered assets on to site, engagement with sub-contractors to ensure correct installation, working alongside the commissioning authority to ensure correct operation of the systems within the data center.
* Involvement with vendor and contractor tender processes.
* Oversee OFCI equipment release, delivery, deficiencies, startup and commissioning with engineers on site.
* Ensure project compliance with Vantage document controls and file specifications.
* Ensure compliance within customer/tenant specifications and maintain engagement with all stakeholders.
* Administer project closeout specifications and associated turnover documentation.
Duties
* Be the first port of call for Mechanical issue resolution within the construction process and own issues to close out.
* Enforce project quality controls and safety programs with strong site presence and guidance.
* Translate job requirements to execution with minimal supervision and run your own day.
* Assist construction manager in preparing monthly financial updates, forecasts, and payment application reviews with regular feedback and discussions.
* Facilitate page-turn design document reviews and capture comments with action items for internal stakeholders and direct contracted design partners.
* Attend factory acceptance testing and provide feedback to vendors during this process.
* As required, manage design team/contractors throughout each project.
* Work closely with Operations to coordinate ongoing construction activities on campus, develop and track MOPs for critical work in live spaces, and provide customer support as necessary.
* Provide project commissioning support by onboarding the Commissioning Agent, facilitating script approvals and ensuring compliance with customer requirements. Work alongside the Commissioning Agent during the functional performance testing stage to assist with any issues that may arise.
* Manage and maintain internal project file storage.
* Drive internal and external project closeout requirements.
* This is not an exhaustive list as the role is considered to be a wide ranging and highly important position within the team.
Job Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or similar field, or equivalent experience.
* 8+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity required. This is a field based role and time based problem solving skills are essential.
* Data Center experience is highly desirable, or another related discipline.
* Expected travel is 10% but may grow and evolve over time.
* German language is beneficial with projects throughout Europe, though the main construction language is English.
