Fondation du Verbier Festival was founded by Martin T:son Engstroem in 1994 to create a summer festival in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The festival aims to encourage musical excellence in an intimate atmosphere while being open to the world. It includes a resident youth orchestra, an academy for renowned artists to teach the next generation, and a wide range of activities throughout the day and night.
Role Description
Contribute to the success of the Volunteer Department and support the Volunteer Manager in effectively orchestrating activities during the preparations and throughout the Verbier Festival, while adhering to the organization's values of excellence, education, and innovation.
Qualifications
Event planning and coordination skills – the ability to manage logistics, anticipate challenges and ensure smooth execution.
Strong organizational and time management skills – capacity to handle multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work under pressure and set priorities – staying calm in demanding situations and managing tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – essential for engaging with volunteers, teams, and stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively in a team – collaboration is key in a fast-paced festival environment.
Experience in managing human resources – understanding how to support, motivate, and coordinate a large team of volunteers.
Problem-solving and adaptability – flexibility to handle last-minute changes and maintain a solution-oriented approach.
Technical proficiency – strong Excel, Word, and Outlook skills to manage schedules, documents, and communications.
Fluency in English and French (spoken and written) – essential for interacting with an international team and audience.
Valid work permit in Switzerland – a must for eligibility.
Knowledge of music or arts management (a plus) – familiarity with the cultural sector adds value to the role.
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred – experience in event logistics, volunteer coordination, or arts administration is an advantage.
Availability: Training in late May, 50% in June, 100% in July, and limited availability in early August.
Workplace: Vevey and Verbier. Possibility of remote work after training – hybrid or remote work arrangements may be considered following onboarding. The work schedule is to be defined according to project needs and availability.
