Job Description:
About H-55: As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, the mission of H55 is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable. The company’s strengths and competencies lie in developing propulsion and energy storage solutions which are modular, lightweight, and certifiable.
Your Role: As an Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and verification of Electronic Control Board Assemblies (ECBA), with a focus on Battery Modules for next-generation Energy Storage Systems (ESS). Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will operate under the EASA Part-21J Design Organization (DO) framework and adhere to the rigorous standards of safety-critical development (e.g., DO-254, DO-160, CS-23).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Schematic & Layout Design: Design and simulate mixed-signal circuits (analog/digital, HV/LV, temperature, current sensing). Integrate input protections, EMI/ESD filters, and power supply blocks (e.g., DC/DC converters). Include digital communication protocols (CAN, RS485, RS232) and microcontrollers (MCU-based systems). Develop complete schematics and layout using Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD tools (DWG, GBR, SCH, PcB, PnP,...). Specialized within Analog is a plus.
2. Documentation & Compliance: Produce detailed Design Descriptions, calculations (FMEA; MTBF), and analysis reports (ASR). Maintain traceability and version control of all engineering data per DO-254 guidelines.
3. Testing & Integration: Author and execute Qualification Test Plans (QTP) and Verification Test Procedures (VTP). Perform debugging, de-risking, and integration of PCBs at the module and system level. Support the development of test benches and define Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP). Conduct environmental and functional testing in accordance with RTCA/DO-160.
4. Process Rigor: Ensure adherence to internal and regulatory processes for configuration management, safety, and documentation. Maintain high-quality standards through structured peer reviews, checklists, and change control.
Your Profile:
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering. CFC or technical apprenticeship in electronics (strong asset). 3–5 years of experience in safety-critical hardware development (e.g., aerospace, automotive, industrial, or medical sectors).
Technical Skills: Expertise in mixed analog/digital circuit design and simulation (SPICE-based tools such as Simetrix), power electronics (e.g., DC/DC converters), circuit protection, and filtering. High-speed digital interfaces and communication protocols (CAN, RS485, etc.). Schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium Designer or similar tools). Familiarity with EMI/EMC principles and PCB layout best practices.
Soft Skills: Fast learner with a rigorous, structured, and detail-oriented mindset. Strong documentation discipline and ability to work in a certification-driven environment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Capable of working independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Fluent in English (oral and written); French is a strong asset.
