The Competence Center Thermal Energy Storage (CCTES – www.hslu.ch / tes) focuses on energy storage technologies on a material and component level as well as on energy system analysis and optimization and is a leading research group with worldwide cooperations. Tasks and Job Requirements
Development of novel thermal energy storage materials (focus on salt hydrates)
Cooperation with industrial research partners
Measurement of thermophysical and structural properties using high-tech analytical instruments and methods
Design and execution of material compatibility and material stability tests
Material optimization through the use of additives and surfactants
Co-authoring scientific articles and participation in academic conferences worldwide
Co-supervising bachelor and master theses
If desired: Participation in teaching
Your Profile
Master's or PhD degree in Chemistry
Deep knowledge in at least one of the following topics: inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, crystallization
Enthusiastic about experimental work in the lab. Hands-on attitude
Very good English both written and spoken
Project management, presentation skills, rapid familiarization with new topics
Creative, team-minded, communicative and eager for knowledge
Able to prioritize and multi-task
Enthusiastic about energy topics, development of new materials and tackling complex problems
