1. Objective of the assignment
The objective of this assignment is to assist in the preparatory work for the International Conference on Intellectual Property (IP) and Development and the High-Level Event on South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC), both scheduled for 2025. Additionally, the consultant will prepare documents and reports on the implementation of the Development Agenda (DA) Recommendations.
2. Deliverables / services
The consultant will:
(a) Assist in the planning and coordination of the International Conference on IP and Development and the High-Level Event on SSTC.
(b) Prepare briefing notes, background documents, opening and closing remarks, and other preparatory materials for the events.
(c) Conduct research to identify potential speakers for the events and assist in liaising with them.
(d) Develop content for press releases, newsletters, social media, and dedicated WIPO webpages to promote both events and raise awareness of their objectives and outcomes.
(e) Gather attendee and speakers’ feedback through surveys and follow-up emails for both events.
(f) Prepare a summary report of the main elements of both events.
(g) Conduct research to identify emerging trends, best practices, and innovative approaches related to IP, development, and SSTC.
(h) Draft documents and reports on the implementation of the DA Recommendations, ensuring alignment with organizational guidelines and Member States’ expectations.
3. Reporting
The Consultant will be under the supervision of the Senior Counsellor of the DACD and work closely with the DACD team. The Consultant shall report the progress of the implementation on a monthly basis via email.
4. Profile (e.g. area of specialization/expertise, specific knowledge/skills/experience)
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in event planning, policy analysis, or program coordination, preferably in the context of international organizations.
• Ability to cope with overlapping deadlines and deliver high quality outputs under time pressure.
• Strong reporting, data management and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural, multiethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and a knowledge of other official UN languages.
5. Duration of contract and payment
The contract will start on March 1, 2025, and will end on December 30, 2025.
Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (daily rate).
