About this job :
This position is reporting to the Head of UK, Ireland, Northern Europe, and the Middle East, a region in the P&C EMEA division. Your mission is to market and underwrite profitable P&C Treaty business (Property Risk & Cat XL and Regional Casualty treaties) and manage the relationships of our P&C clients in the region.
In more detail your responsibilities are specifically, but not limited to :
1. Undertake results-driven underwriting by building-up, developing and monitoring a technically sound and profitable portfolio, this includes pricing in coordination with Pricing Actuaries and ensuring that all underwriting actions and decisions are properly documented.
2. Acquire and renew profitable business in this region within PartnerRe’s risk appetite.
3. Consult with and provide solutions for our clients.
4. Define strategy and actions in the allocated region.
5. Participate in conferences, internal seminars, and client seminars.
6. Interact effectively with other Business Units and departments such as Accounting, Claims, Wording, as well as the CAT Modeling team to ensure timely CAT pricing.
7. Manage administrative tasks such as reviewing contractual documents and endorsements, data input, maintaining data quality of portfolio, etc.
8. Provide market information to our internal peers and prepare various reports for the management.
Qualifications
About you :
You ensure PartnerRe’s best position with its clients in the region. As a resourceful discussion partner you take time to listen to their needs and challenges and articulate the value of PartnerRe as a long-term risk partner. Your in-depth understanding of our clients’ business, strategy, underwriting approach, and the related exposures allows you to develop reinsurance solutions and structures that serve their needs.
In addition, you have the following background, skills, and mindset :
1. Minimum 5 years of experience in (re)insurance underwriting, client management or (re)insurance pricing.
2. Experience and contacts in the UK, Irish and Nordic regions are a plus.
3. Understanding Property Risk, CAT XL and Liability underwriting and pricing is essential. Motor underwriting is a plus.
4. Strong negotiation skills.
5. Strong social skills are essential and must be a team player.
6. Readiness to travel frequently and show initiative and independent thinking.
7. Fluent/native English language skills are necessary and a second fluent language is a plus.
8. Degree educated or better / A.C.I.I. or equivalent (re)insurance qualification / actuarial qualification.
