The Bank for International Settlements is seeking a Data and Analytics Engineer with expertise in big data, data analytics, and software engineering to contribute to the development of our next-generation data and analytics systems.
This role is based in Basel, Switzerland, but we welcome applications from candidates worldwide due to our international organization status. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their family members.
Purpose of the Role:
Our mission at BIS is to facilitate central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international cooperation. Our MED IT team supports this goal by collecting, analyzing, and generating insights from global financial data and statistics. These insights are used by central banks, regulatory institutions, and academia worldwide.

As a member of the MED IT team, you will:
* Contribute directly to our mission as part of a collaborative team solving complex software and data challenges, including IT product management, advanced analytics, and business intelligence.

* Cultivate collaboration both within the team and with economists, technologists, data scientists, statisticians, and counterparts in other international organizations and central banks.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Monetary and Economic Department (MED) in provisioning, developing, and using business applications, contributing to defining and implementing the IT strategy and architecture for MED statistical applications.
* Manage MED IT's product portfolio and assume related procurement, contract, budget, and reporting responsibilities.
* Provide IT/administrative support to MED IT users, customers, and steering committees.
Requirements:
* Graduate degree in computer science or an equivalent technical field.
* Experience managing IT products, including budgeting, procurement, and contract management.
* Experience supporting a large IT customer base (3rd level support), including excellent communication skills.
* Programming skills in languages like Python, C# .NET, Java.
* Experience working with economic and financial statistics (using data science tools).
* Knowledge and experience working with SQL and various databases.
* Strong analytical skills and a passion for solving data challenges are required to succeed in this role.
