Global Trade Manager – HQ & Functions

Mission Statement:
The Global Trade team within Hitachi Energy is responsible for ensuring trade compliance and optimizing trade-related business operations. The broad scope of work covers export controls, sanctions and customs compliance, supply chain compliance, and supply chain optimization.
Your Responsibilities:
The Global Trade Manager – HQ & Functions is responsible for leading, managing, and implementing the Hitachi Energy Global Trade Program (GTP) within the Swiss-based Headquarters and with the Corporate Functions (such as Tax, Treasury, R&D, IT, HR, SCM, etc.). The Global Trade Manager – HQ & Functions reports to the global Head of Trade Compliance & Security and is part of the Global Trade Leadership Team. The day-to-day tasks include:
1. Driving the implementation of the GTP and its governance framework in HQ and with the Corporate Functions.
2. Advising on and driving trade compliance in the Corporate Functions.
3. Recruiting, appointing, managing, training, developing, and supporting the Country Trade Compliance Officers (CTCOs) in Switzerland.
4. Informing and advising the Head of Trade Compliance & Security, the Global Trade team, the European CTCOs, the BUs, and other stakeholders on trade issues.
5. Co-leading or leading the global Export Controls Steering Group or Sanctions Steering Group, which are specialist advisory groups within the Global Trade team.
6. Mapping and improving trade policies and procedures.
7. Training stakeholders on trade matters.
8. Identifying and capturing duty savings opportunities.
9. Supporting the implementation, use, and continuous improvement of global trade-related tools (such as SAP GTS) and automation.
10. Overseeing and controlling monthly KPI reporting, issue reporting, annual risk assessments, and other trade-related reporting as well as implementing corrective and risk mitigation measures.
11. Supporting internal and external trade audits.

Your Background:
1. Required - Graduate or postgraduate degree in trade, law, economics, international relations, or other trade-related fields.
2. Preferred – Legal qualification or background.
3. Required – 10+ years’ experience in export controls, sanctions and customs compliance, supply chain compliance, and supply chain optimization in an in-house role.
4. Required – Specialist knowledge of export controls and/or sanctions.
5. Required – Fluency in written and spoken English language. Other European languages a plus.
6. Required – Currently based in Switzerland or the EU.
