A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A REFERRAL INTAKE SPECIALIST
1. Maintains patient privacy under company protocol.
2. Supports the clinical team with the verification of all referrals.
3. Confirms and documents all steps of the referral process to include authorization.
4. Assign incoming referral faxes to the appropriate clinic and or provider by placing the document in the proper folder.
5. Enters referrals within the allotted timeframe as established; meeting productivity and quality standards as established.
6. Remain actively logged into on-call telephone queues as assigned to fulfill duties.
7. Processing intake referrals fax accurately and timely in a fast-paced environment.
8. Closing all the referral loops with the clinical notes received by fax.
9. Participate as an active team member in the development of solutions to improve the overall patient experience.
10. Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service and patient satisfaction.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
We require our candidates to possess these minimum qualifications:
1. A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
2. A minimum 1 year of Referral Coordination or related clinical experience is required.
3. (EMR) Experience is required; ECW - eClinicalWorks is preferred.
4. Knowledge of insurance plans, ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT codes and guidelines.
5. Understanding of medical terminology.
6. Effective Communication Skills (Written and Oral).
7. Excellent interpersonal relationships and customer service skills.
8. Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
9. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
10. Team player and self-starter.
11. Ability to travel and work remotely.
12. Bilingual in Spanish and English (Preferred not required).
13. Knowledge of working with preferred specialist providers.
14. Knowledge processing authorizations via insurance portals.
