The Destinus engineering team is on the hunt for an enthusiastic and proactive Electric Propulsion Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and enhancement of innovative propulsion systems for electric unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). We're seeking a candidate with considerable expertise in electric motor design, design for manufacturing (DFM), and propulsion system integration, who is driven by the desire to elevate UAV performance and efficiency to new heights.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop high-performance electric motors tailored for UAV applications, focusing on lightweight, high-efficiency, and scalable manufacturing solutions.
* Integrate propulsion systems, including motor controllers, batteries, and power management systems, into UAV platforms.
* Conduct simulations and testing to evaluate motor performance, thermal management, and reliability under various operating conditions.
* Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure electric motor designs are optimized for cost-effective, high-quality, and scalable production.
* Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop processes for winding, rotor assembly, and component sourcing.
* Research and implement advanced technologies in motor design, materials, and energy efficiency.
* Optimize propulsion systems for aerodynamics, noise reduction, and energy consumption.
* Create technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, and test reports.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* 6-8 years of experience in electric propulsion system design.
* Proven experience in electric motor design, propulsion systems, or related technologies.
* Demonstrated expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles for electric motors, including materials selection, tooling design, and cost optimization.
* Strong knowledge of power electronics, control systems, and battery management systems.
* Experience with thermal management and energy optimization for electric propulsion systems.
* Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing UAV propulsion systems.
* Familiarity with motor winding techniques, rotor balancing, and mass production processes.
* Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, ANSYS, or similar).
* Familiarity with UAV systems and aerodynamics is a strong plus.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
* Knowledge of the English language is required.
* Knowledge of the French or German language is an advantage.
* The ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
