Description
The online adjunct faculty member position at Geneva College involves teaching part-time in the Department of Professional and Online Graduate Studies. The selected candidate(s) will teach undergraduate Nutrition courses, including BIO 218: Introduction to Nutrition, via online platforms.
This role requires providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessments of learning, and clear documentation of student progress.
Key responsibilities include:
Essential Responsibilities:
* Teaching assigned contact hours per semester
* Adequately preparing for lessons
* Providing clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through topical outlines and approved syllabi
* Assigning relevant tasks that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting
* Supporting and communicating with students while maintaining mutual value and respect
* Providing timely grades to students through college software
* Responding to student questions in a timely manner
* Ensuring course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
Specific Responsibilities:
* Demonstrating quality online classroom management techniques
* Providing quality assessment of student work with substantive feedback
* Engaging in pedagogical practices that encourage student success and excellence
* Incorporating faith-based discussions in class forums
* Participating in online faculty development opportunities
* Communicating with students and ODP staff regarding student concerns or issues
* Notifying appropriate ODP staff of any curricular or course administration issues
* Coordinating with ODP student success coach regarding student concerns

Job Requirements - Administrative:

Qualifications:
* Minimum: Education/Certification - Master's degree from an accredited U.S. college/university (or international equivalent) in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field; Experience - Prior teaching experience, specifically with online populations; Skills/Abilities - Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and planning skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, and leveraging the Internet.
* Preferred: Education/Certification - Registered Dietitian credential and/or terminal degree related to Nutrition or Dietetics; Experience - Prior online teaching experience, working with non-traditional learners, proficiency using Learning Management System; Skills/Abilities - Curriculum development experience and/or knowledge of best practices in online curriculum design.
