About Liom Liom is a Swiss deep-tech startup dedicated to revolutionizing the field of personalized health monitoring. Our objective is to develop the first health wearable monitoring glucose non-invasively. We will launch our wearable as a consumer product in the EU in H1’2027, and then as a medically cleared product in the US. Our team consists of over 80 staff, including more than 50 PhDs, with deep expertise in entrepreneurship, product development, and the required engineering as well as scientific disciplines. We are operating out of our lab facilities in Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland, and our office in San Francisco, United States. Your mission As Head of software engineering, you'll be responsible for: Leadership & strategy: Guide and grow a talented software engineering team. Develop and execute a strategic vision for software development that aligns with our business goals. Drive the adoption of best practices in system design, ensuring fault-tolerance, robustness, and extensibility. Design software to accommodate scaling requirements while maintaining optimal performance under varying loads. Innovation & development: Oversee the development of our platforms, ensuring seamless integration of hardware, software, and AI components. Architect and implement an end-to-end scalable system architecture for the smartwatch, companion app, and cloud services. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and other departments to deliver a premium end result. Collaborate with hardware teams to define sensor integration protocols, ensuring real-time data processing and integrity. Develop and oversee the synchronization framework linking wearable systems, mobile applications (iOS/Android), and cloud infrastructure. Spearhead the integration of AI and ML models for real-time health analytics and personalized user experiences. Quality & standards compliance: Uphold the highest standards of software quality and compliance, particularly in the context of health tech regulatory requirements. Implement robust security measures across all software components to ensure data privacy and compliance with relevant health regulations. Talent management & development: Attract, retain, and develop top talent, fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture. Lead a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, driving a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Your profile Proven experience in a senior software engineering leadership role, preferably within a company that has a hardware component. Experience in the health tech or med health industry is a plus. Strong technical background in software development, ML/AI, and system architecture. Passion for coding and willingness to code yourself and/or with your team members. Hands-on mentality who has fun in building our system from scratch for a product which is not yet on the market. Excellent leadership skills with a track record of building and mentoring high-performing teams. Experience in a start-up or fast-paced growth environment is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving abilities and a forward-thinking mindset. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
