The annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$85,000 in New York.

Job Description
The Travel and Tourism Communication Specialist will play a key role in shaping and amplifying the initiative's messaging, increasing visibility, and ensuring clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, the public, and media partners.
Reporting Lines & Interactions
The Insights Specialist reports to the Initiative Lead and works closely with the rest of the initiative team, including the Insights Lead, Community Lead, and the Initiative Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research & Content Development Support
• Conduct background research and assist in drafting reports, briefings, and knowledge products on key Travel & Tourism topics.
• Support the Content Lead in synthesising insights from stakeholder discussions, industry trends, and case studies.
• Assist in editing and formatting reports, presentations, and other digital content to ensure high-quality outputs.
2. Strategic Communications & Messaging
• Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication strategy for the initiative, aligning messaging and content across key stakeholders and platforms.
• Support the development of compelling narratives and messaging that position the initiative as a thought leader in sustainable and inclusive Travel & Tourism.
• Ensure knowledge and awareness materials are aligned with the Forum's broader initiatives and brand identity.
3. Media & Public Engagement
• In coordination with the Centre for Urban Transformation Communication Lead, serve as the liaison with the Forum's Media & Communications teams, coordinating media engagements, dissemination of knowledge and awareness products, including digital content.
• Proactively pitch stories, agenda posts (op-eds), and interviews to increase media coverage on key Travel and Tourism topics.
• Prepare briefings, talking points, and media kits for Forum spokespeople participating in public events and interviews.
4. Digital & Social Media Strategy
• Manage and curate content for the initiative's social media presence, working with the Forum's digital team to develop posts, videos, and visual content.
• Create and maintain engaging newsletters, blogs, and website content to update stakeholders and partners.
• Track and analyse social media and engagement metrics to optimise communication strategies.
5. Internal & Stakeholder Communication
• Support the development of internal communications and knowledge products, ensuring alignment between initiative teams, the Forum's leadership, and external partners.
• Develop presentation decks, briefing notes, and talking points for stakeholder engagements.
• Maintain clear documentation and manage knowledge-sharing across teams.
Preferred Requirements and Experience
1.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in international relations, journalism, public policy, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in research, knowledge development, or programme management within a relevant organisation or sector.

• Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies, craft compelling narratives, and manage digital content.

• Good experience with media relations, including pitching stories and managing press engagements.

• Exceptional writing and editorial skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging content.

• Familiarity with social media management, analytics tools, and digital marketing trends.

• Ability to engage and collaborate with high-level stakeholders across sectors and geographies.
8.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
9.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal); additional language skills are a strong asset.
