The Financial Controller will oversee the financials of multiple entities owned by ECOM Nigeria, ensuring timely and accurate reports for all businesses in Nigeria. This role includes coaching and mentoring the Accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise accounting for Ecom Nigeria (all legal entities)
2. Manage monthly cutoff/close process
3. Adequacy of provisions and accruals
4. Produce management accounting analysis for all businesses
5. Oversee Cognos input for all Ecom Companies in Nigeria
6. Manage annual audit and statutory reporting
7. Contracts and forward books
8. Preparation/review of commodity forward books
9. Produce timely and accurate financial reports
10. Analysis of reserves vs actual costs
11. Run tax planning and compliance with the Tax team
12. Manage govt compliance and banking relations
13. Treasury oversight of payment/receipts process
14. Work with Treasury to manage liquidity and develop bank relationships
15. Backup to product controllers for origin funding requests
16. Credit control
17. Counterparty risk process and credit control
18. Supplier advances with commodity teams
19. Overhead control and analysis for all Ecom companies
20. Coordinate consolidation of budgets and forecasts
21. Maintain efficient accounting records
22. Improve company controls and mitigate risk
23. Enhance accuracy of reported financial results
24. Ensure compliant financial reporting
25. Lead, coach and mentor a team
Qualifications/Requirements
1. Advanced degree in accounting, business or finance
2. Minimum 7 years professional experience, ideally in Commodity, agricultural sector or trading industry
3. Thorough understanding of business, financial and accounting principles
4. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with Excel expertise
5. SAGE ERP knowledge is an added advantage
6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust
7. Ability to work in an entrepreneurial team and deliver high-quality work within deadlines
8. Prior experience in Nigeria or West Africa would be beneficial
