We are seeking an innovative and detail-oriented R&D Photonic Test Engineer to join our team, focusing on the testing and characterization of silicon photonic circuits. The ideal candidate will work at the forefront of photonics technology, developing test methodologies and ensuring the performance and reliability of cutting-edge optical devices. This role offers an opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams in the design, development, and optimization of next-generation photonic solutions.
Tasks
Test Development and Execution:
* Design, implement, and optimize test methods for silicon photonic devices at components and circuits level.
* Develop, implement, and execute test plans for silicon photonic circuits, including optical, electrical, and thermal performance measurements.
* Perform high-precision characterization of optical components.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
* Analyze test data to evaluate key performance metrics (e.g., insertion loss, bandwidth, optical power, and crosstalk).
* Identify anomalies and root causes of performance issues, proposing solutions for improvement.
* Document test results, generate comprehensive reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
Tools and Automation Development:
* Develop SW automation for lab setup developed internally. Drivers for instruments, alignment procedures, device indexing, measurements, logging results.
* Develop automation scripts and software for efficient and repeatable testing (Python).
* Calibrate and maintain test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Collaboration and Support:
* Work closely with design, fabrication, and packaging teams to provide feedback for iterative improvements.
* Support product development cycles by defining test plans and ensuring alignment with design specifications.
* Contribute to the development of innovative testing methodologies and protocols.
Requirements
Education:
* Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, preferably with a focus in Photonics.
Experience:
* Hands-on experience with silicon photonic devices and optical testing and characterization.
* Hands-on experience with development of semi- or fully automated lab setups (wafer prober customization is a plus).
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in silicon photonics testing equipment.
* Knowledge of photonic design and testing methodologies.
* Strong programming skills for data analysis and automation (Python).
Soft Skills:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
* Team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
