The HR Generalist will provide payroll, administrative, systems, recruiting, and project support for the DIA Basel office ensuring policies, procedures, and processes are followed especially those that are specific to Switzerland and the region. Some of the duties are as follows:
* Support the monthly payroll process (payroll is currently outsourced to an external HR with the intention to transition it in-house in the near future).
* Coordinate and communicate with external HR-relevant service providers and authorities in regard to insurance, work permit and withholding tax matters.
* Assist in drafting, reviewing, updating and rolling out new and/or existing HR policies to ensure they align with Swiss legal requirements and organizational needs.
* Support the employee life cycle management and administration, from onboarding to offboarding, including preparing employment contracts, obtaining work permits, insurance registration and other related administrative tasks.
* Coordinate and assist with the recruitment and hiring process of new staff, including job postings, organizing, and coordinating interviews (online, in-person), communication with applicants and follow-on actions post-interview.
* Coordinate and conduct onboarding and orientation sessions for new staff.
* Maintain, update and regularly double-check personnel baseline data.
* Collate and produce HR analytics, surveys and similar to assess operational gaps and needs with a view to consolidating and enhancing internal HR information database, applications and processes.
* Monitor emerging HR trends locally and internationally, and seek to regularly integrate industry best practices to strengthen HR management at the Institute.

* Bachelor’s Degree is required.
* Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience and 2 years of human resources experience.
* Knowledge regarding all necessary Swiss working laws and work permit requirements.
* Payroll processing experience in Switzerland.
* Experience working in a global organization is a plus.
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Possess a high level of integrity.
* Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to plan and follow through on projects.
* Customer service focus. Desire to provide world class employee experience.
* Entrepreneurial spirit and get it done” mentality. Able to work in resource-constrained environment.
* Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and complete tasks efficiently and effectively. Consistently able to meet deadlines while meeting or exceeding expectations.
* Comfort using technology and digital platforms. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Experience with human resources systems such as payroll, time and attendance, applicant tracking, and performance management is required.
* Strong interpersonal skills, credibility, and ability to form good working relationships and earn trust.
* Comfort working in a matrixed global and multi-cultural environment. Sensitive and adaptable to cultural and regional differences.
* Fluent in English. Proficiency in other languages a bonus.
