Background
The Global Survivors Fund (GSF) was launched in October 2019 by Nobel Peace Prize laureates Dr Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad. Its mission is to enhance access to reparations for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence around the globe, thus responding to a gap long identified by survivors. GSF acts to provide interim reparative measures in situations where states or other parties are unable or unwilling to meet their responsibilities. It advocates for duty bearers and the international community to develop reparations programmes, and also guides states and civil society by providing expertise and technical support. GSF’s survivor-centric approach is the cornerstone of its work.
Role Summary
The Compensation and Benefits Officer will play a key role in supporting GSF’s mission by ensuring efficient and compliant administration of compensation and benefits for staff. The Compensation and Benefits Officer will conduct research and data analysis on best practice among organisations in the same sector in countries where GSF is present, thus contributing to employee satisfaction and retention by maintaining equity and compliance with organisational policies and local labour laws. This position will help develop competitive and sustainable compensation and benefits programmes aligned with GSF’s goals and funding structures.
The Compensation and Benefits Officer will oversee all internal communication with staff and external communication with relevant service providers and consultants to ensure all relevant policies and procedures are shared and understood. They will also provide key support to the payroll process for staff based in Switzerland and abroad.
Position Responsibilities
Compensation and Benefits
* Performs research and analysis linked with compensation and benefits, related to Swiss-based and global staff
* Reports and updates monitoring tools with regards to compensation and benefits, maintains internal coordination with the Finance Unit
* Ensures compliance with local labour laws, organisational policies, and donor regulations regarding payroll and benefits
* Conducts benchmarking and research to ensure salaries and benefits remain competitive within the nonprofit/NGO sector and local standards
* Liaises as needed with external specialised service providers (Birches Group, Mercer, etc.) on service requests and projects
* Maintains accurate employee records, ensuring that all compensation and benefits information is up to date in HR systems
* Supports the design and rollout of benefits packages, in line with GSF’s compensation philosophy
* Develops internal communication tools and material to share information and updates with staff members on Compensation and Benefits matters
* Assists in periodic compensation reviews, audits, and internal evaluations to align staff pay with funding availability and strategic objectives.
Payroll
* Supports the overall payroll process for GSF staff in all locations, liaises with external payroll partners and other GSF team members in charge of relevant related processes
* Performs internal controls prior to payroll validation
* Keeps records of changes and updates to payroll.
HR Administration
* Acts as in-house focal point for questions and ad-hoc requests linked to social institutions, pension funds, insurance coverages, certificates or other documents, in coordination with the HR Assistant
* Supports the design, development, update and correct implementation of HR policies and procedures
* Supports the communication of updates and changes to key HR policies to staff.
Learning & Development
* Supports implementation of the L&D policy in coordination with the Finance Unit, in particular providing data and reports on use of L&D budget
* Supports the definition of training opportunities for the team based on identified needs and priorities.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
* BA in Human Resources, Business Management or equivalent
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in a role involving similar tasks; previous NGO experience would be an asset.

* Full proficiency in English and French
* Proven experience with people analytics

* Ability to work independently and in a team, with minimal supervision
* Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
