SWISSto12 is one of the world’s fastest-growing aerospace companies, evolving from its pioneering use of 3D printing technologies for high-performance Radio Frequency (RF) products and applications to recently announcing the manufacture of entire geostationary telecom satellites, called HummingSat, that define a new category in space.
SWISSto12 is a leading provider of Radiofrequency (RF) products and sub-systems for aerospace applications. The company’s patented 3D printing technologies and associated product designs are unique to deliver lightweight, compact, highly performing, and competitive RF products.
SWISSto12 is also providing the HummingSat as the world’s first commercial telecom GEO SmallSat developed in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). Its uniquely compact size combined with highly capable telecom payloads allows telecommunications operators to deploy a cost-efficient, compact, and agile asset without sacrificing performance or security. HummingSat has recently been selected by Inmarsat to build three I-8 satellites and in 2022 by Intelsat to build the I-45 satellite. If you are looking for a position where you can play an active role in contributing to an innovative and growing company, this role is for you.
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Design of antenna and RF components based on SWISSto12’s proprietary 3D printing techniques, including:
Horn antennas: broadband ridge horns, corrugated horns, smooth walled horns.
Horn arrays for high-gain or interferometric applications.
Other antennas and antenna components: spiral antennas, external screens for polarization conversion, omnidirectional antennas, etc.
Waveguide components and feed networks: filters, power distribution/beamforming networks, magic tees, orthomode transducers.
Frequencies: UHF to V-band.
Perform different analysis and post-processing for the antennas/components designed by the candidate.
Participate in the development of systems involving the previous antennas and components. This may include interacting with suppliers for the development of other units/subsystems and participation in the development of structural parts, radomes, etc.
Participate in antenna and components RF measurement campaigns.
Prepare design and test documentation, including product documentation for manufacturing and support during development and production.
Participate in reviews with customers and subcontractors.
Fast prototyping of antennas and components by using subcontractors with fast turn-around times.
Required experience and competencies:
M.Sc. in electrical engineering (RF) with at least 5 years of experience with the development of antennas and RF components. Candidates with more than 3 years of experience in a relevant antenna industrial application are also invited to apply.
Strong knowledge of antenna theory.
Strong knowledge of waveguide theory.
Advanced skills with antenna analysis and processing.
Experience with 3D printing and PCB (beyond laboratory level; ideally, the candidate has worked on products based on PCB design) is a plus.
The applicant should understand RF system budgets.
Experience in ground antenna systems (Radar, Surveillance, Communications) is beneficial.
Knowledge of Baseband/RF/Microwave measurement methods (DC – 40 GHz) and operation of Spectrum Analyzers, VNAs, RF Generators, Oscilloscopes, etc. Advantageous if the applicant has experience with measurements in anechoic chambers.
Software skills:
Basic: CST (or similar full-wave RF solver), Python.
Good to have: Cadence – Capture Orcad Schematic tool, Cadence Allegro Viewer for PCB Layouts, Gerber Viewer for PCB Layouts, AWR – Microwave Office.
Interested applicants are requested to apply through LinkedIn.
