Position Summary
The Solutions Developer/Analyst will be responsible for solution development and analysis of the Digital Front End development projects. This includes but is not limited to, analysis, design, coding/development, implementation, documentation and ongoing support of Digital Front End projects to deliver business services to varied constituents, including students, applicants, prospects, alumni, employees, and the public. The incumbent will interact with IT functional teams to maintain and develop the applications owned by the Digital Front End team, including integrations and feeds from relevant enterprise systems, in accordance with proper quality, control, and integrity standards.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days on-site, and 3-4 days remote.
Responsibilities
* Developing websites, web services, applications, and integrations using modern development methodologies and tools.
* Managing application and integration projects.
* Creating, maintaining, and documenting web coding, structure, and content standards, in relation to Web/Online Accessibility (AODA).
* Working with departments and area managers to help manage content/documents and related database information, data integration with existing and future Digital Front End development projects.
* Ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget within design standards.
* Providing support for Digital Front End development projects, including day-to-day guidance to College staff and IT web design student staff to address any questions or issues regarding the Digital Front End development projects.
* Consulting with various management entities to define the business and process requirements for application and integration development.
* Providing advice and guidance for software and provisions related to the Digital Front End development projects that are best suited to the needs of the College.
* Designing the look and feel, structure standards, navigation, and data integration of Digital Front End development projects.
* Supporting related implementation and maintenance strategies.
* Preparing design, specification, process, structure, and other technical documentation.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams on the continued definition and development of the service-oriented architecture, microservices, and overall web services framework.
* Researching and developing new processes and procedures that improve current workflows.
* Collaborating with other IT&S teams like DevOps, Cyber Security, Infrastructure, etc. to improve and modernize the existing processes related to infrastructure, operations, deployment, and databases.
* Maintaining current knowledge of application and integration technologies through research and analysis, whereby current and future needs of the College can be accommodated.
* Administering applications and ensuring appropriate backup, user management, and other procedures are established and maintained.
* Designing, creating, coding, or acquiring software to perform specialized tasks.
* Supporting the consensus from management, users, and technical staff on design and acquisition issues.
Qualifications
* Three-year degree/diploma in Information Technology or a related program is required.
* Minimum five years of practical and comprehensive experience leading the design and development of dynamic interactive web services and related sites using modularized, component, and service-oriented/microservices constructs and frameworks is required.
* Object-oriented programming expertise with C# on .NET.
* Excellent knowledge of portal, .NET, SOA, system integration, and mobility technologies and methodologies.
* Strong knowledge of client/server architecture and experience building web services using .NET core WebAPI, ASP.NET MVC/Razor, RESTful services.
* Experience with database systems like SQL.
* Good understanding, but preferably practical experience, in Single Sign On (SSO) and Identity Management/Authentication (IDM), including AD, ADFS, and Azure AD.
* Familiarity with web toolsets such as HTML5, Photoshop, Illustrator would be beneficial.
* Hands-on, organized, team player, quick learner, excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Excellent understanding of Internet technologies and associated security implications.
* Excellent oral and written communications skills.
* Experience working on projects of various size and scope.
* Experience working in an agile environment.
* Mobile development experience is an asset.
* Working knowledge of latest technologies and tools such as Git, Azure DevOps pipelines.
* Hands-on experience with web content management system is an asset.
