About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Signal Processing Engineer with strong expertise in biosignal processing to join our cutting-edge research initiative in next-generation human-computer interaction. You will develop novel sensing technologies that capture and interpret EMG/EEG biosignals (and other sensor modalities) for groundbreaking interfaces. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will design, implement, and optimize algorithms to process complex multi-modal sensor data from custom hardware.
What You’ll Do
* Design and implement advanced signal processing algorithms for multi-modal data streams (EEG, EMG, audio, image)
* Develop real-time filtering, artifact rejection, and feature extraction techniques to improve signal quality in challenging environments
* Devise methods for precise temporal alignment and synchronization across diverse sensor modalities
* Analyze and mitigate signal variability across different subjects and recording sessions
* Create validation protocols to assess signal quality, sensor contact, and information content
* Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize sensor configurations and data acquisition parameters
* Develop and refine data streaming architectures from sensor systems to computing platforms
* Work closely with ML researchers to transform raw sensor data into features suitable for machine learning models
* Contribute to experimental protocol design, data collection methodologies, and documentation for patents/publications
Required Qualifications
* Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field with specialization in signal processing
* 3+ years of hands-on experience developing signal processing algorithms for biosignals (EMG, EEG, etc.)
* Strong foundation in digital signal processing (filtering, spectral analysis, noise reduction, feature extraction)
* Demonstrated success extracting meaningful signals in noisy or variable environments
* Experience with real-time signal processing and data streaming architectures
* Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for implementing signal processing pipelines
* Experience handling multi-channel sensor array data
* Solid mathematical grounding in signal processing principles
* Familiarity with physiological signal characteristics and bioelectric phenomena
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience processing biosignals in especially challenging recording environments
* Familiarity with multi-modal sensor fusion techniques
* Background in embedded signal processing systems
* Knowledge of advanced time-series analysis, including synchronization methodologies
* Experience with camera-based sensing or motion-tracking
* Understanding of machine learning approaches for biosignal classification
* Exposure to BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) systems or speech processing
* Publication record in biosignal processing or related fields
About the Project
You will contribute to a pioneering effort that fuses advanced sensing technology, signal processing, and machine learning to revolutionize human-computer interaction. Our research leverages custom-designed, multi-modal sensor systems to capture and interpret subtle physiological signals. You will be instrumental in tackling unique technical challenges such as extracting weak signals in noisy environments, managing sensor contact variability, synchronizing data across modalities, and developing robust architectures for real-time processing.
Our Team
You’ll work with a diverse, multidisciplinary group of hardware engineers, machine learning researchers, and domain experts in close collaboration with academic partners developing next-generation hardware components.
Location
* Remote (Global)
* Occasional Travel to Switzerland
How to Apply
Please submit your resume/CV and a cover letter highlighting your experience in biosignal processing. Include specific examples of signal processing challenges you’ve overcome, especially involving weak signals or multi-modal integration. Qualified candidates will be asked to sign an NDA before receiving further project details.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our team.
