ROLE DESCRIPTION
• The Human Resources Manager is ultimately responsible for all HR-related activities in a clearly defined set of vessels (operation). Moreover, the Human Resources Manager is an HR partner to the Senior Officers onboard all ships within the Operation Area, and acts as an adviser in HR-related matters and in support of Viking’s Employee Performance Review processes.
• The HR Manager reports to the Director Human Resources. This role is based in our Operational Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Switzerland or in possession of a valid work permit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage HR Administration and wellbeing of crew in an effective & compliant manner
• Maintain employee records
• Prepare contract documents for employees and support with visa application process
• Gather all HR-needs of responsible area and initiate necessary actions in agreement with Corporate Operations Manager (COM)
• Ensure and control that needed number & quality of crew for assigned operation is provided in time by recruiting
• Maintain close business relations with the responsible core team
• Maintain business contacts with recruiting & payroll department
• Act as employee relations agent for assigned area to ensure compliance
• Control staff satisfaction and initiate action to improve in coordination with COM
• Support responsible COM with deployment of management positions
• Support the onboard Senior Officer with the HR Administration and vacation planning
• Support the trainings department in the organization of the season start training
• Conduct ship visits to foster relations with the core team and the onboard management as well as manage crew performance reviews
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• Min. 2 years professional experience in a similar position
• Excellent English and German skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent computer knowledge (MS Office), administrative experience
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, service-oriented and guest focused
• Positive personality, organized, flexible, team player, creative, stress resistant and resilient
EDUCATION
• Certificate / degree in Human Resource Management
• Graduated education in hotel / tourism industry
NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
• International experience / experience on a ship is an asset
