Position Summary
The Executive Director, Commercial is a senior leadership position responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for Crinetics Pharmaceuticals in Europe. This role requires a proven track record of success in managing the commercial launch of innovative rare disease medicines in Europe.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
* Develop and implement commercial strategies to achieve or exceed revenue targets in full alignment with commercial leadership.
* Ensure commercial research is implemented across launch markets to ensure an accurate understanding of market dynamics; ATUs, product positioning, adoption models, etc. Work closely with the Global Product Teams to adapt a brand plan that addresses European needs.
* Align the marketing strategy to the global strategy and ensure that commercial promotional materials are developed for the European sales teams.
* Define and implement an omnichannel approach that leverages existing technology for the needs of the EU business.
* Manage the onboarding of selected distribution partners in the GCC and Eastern Europe until a country GM is assigned.
* Work closely with cross-functional field partners (Country General Managers, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Market Access, Corporate Affairs, Patient Advocacy, etc.) to ensure strategic direction and implementation pull through.
* Manage commercial presence at congresses including booth creation, symposia and other tactics to be deployed.
* Partner with the market access team to develop and execute strategies to ensure access to intended populations.
* Partner with Learning & Development and commercial operations in the development and implementation of an effective sales training program for the national sales team.
* Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify new sales opportunities and differentiate from competition.
* Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
* Prepare regular reports on sales performance and forecasts for senior management.
* Develop, communicate and implement effective sales strategies to expand the customer base, increase market share and develop new business.
* Lead the development and implement a comprehensive sales training program together with Training that will keep the sales team at the forefront of the industry through continuing professional growth among sales leadership and product specialists.
* Provide accurate reporting and detailed information on lead generation and sales efforts, including analysis of data and metrics.
New Business Acquisition
* Develop business plan and strategy to increase market share.
* Provide relevant information from sales activities to marketing teams that can help with crafting productive marketing strategies.
* Capture competitive intelligence and stay abreast of current developments and trends in the marketplace and communicate these to the country General Managers.
* Monitor and analyze competitor’s activities and propose counter action.
People Development
* Conduct regular reviews with country General Managers to build more effective communications, understand training and development needs, and provide insights for the improvement of regional sales and activity performance.
* Support the sales team and nurture relationships to help them achieve their goals.
* Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure effective execution of brand strategies.
* Work with EU Commercial Leadership to set performance management objectives based on relevant Sales Force Effectiveness key performance indicators.
* To perform other tasks and duties which may be assigned by immediate supervisor.
Institutionalize and internalize Crinetics’ values, leadership behaviors and code of conduct
* Skilled at providing market recommendations and customer feedback to the leadership team.
Leadership (Vision, strategy and business alignment, people management, communication, influencing others, managing change)
Required
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical start-up industry is required and a minimum of 12 years in a supervisory role.
* At least 5 years working as part of EU Leadership team to establish a business from scratch.
* Managing distributors and other commercial partners across country clusters.
* Strong communication/influencing skills and executive presence.
* A genuine passion for analytics and insights with natural curiosity and interest in solving complex problems.
Preferred
* Master’s degree with 13 years of experience.
* Experience as a sales representative or key account manager.
* A foundation of experience in endocrinology, specialty pharmaceuticals or rare disease is desirable.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
