Your Responsibilities
CERN's ATLAS Experiment Seeks Talented Software Developer to Join Data Processing Team.
In This Role, You Will Contribute to Development and Optimization of ACTS (A Common Tracking Software) Toolkit—a Experiment-Agnostic Track Reconstruction Software Designed for High Performance in HL-LHC Era and Beyond.
The ACTS Toolkit Is Integral to ATLAS Experiment's Strategy for Offline and Event Filter Track Reconstruction for Run 4 and Future Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, Optimize, and Maintain ACTS-Based Track Finding, Fitting, and Vertex Reconstruction Software.
* Focusing on Adapting and Fine-Tuning the Software for ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) to Ensure Optimal Performance.
* Lead and Coordinate Efforts to Enhance Computational and Physics Performance of ACTS, Supporting ATLAS HL-LHC Physics Program.
* Serve as Core Member of ACTS Development Team, Managing Parts of Development and Deployment Processes.
* Provide Advisory and Supervision Support to Junior Colleagues Within ATLAS and Collaborating Institutions.
Your Profile
Skills
* Proven Experience with Modern C++ Programming Techniques.
* Understanding of Track Reconstruction Concepts, Algorithms, and Their Efficient Implementation in High-Energy Physics Experiments.
* Proficiency in Software Development Tools and Practices Within a Linux Environment.
* Ability to Communicate Opinions, Ideas, and Suggestions Convincingly, Clearly, and in Logical and Structured Manner, Staying on Topic.
* You Have Professional Background in Experimental Physics (or Related Field) and Have Either:
o A Master's Degree with 2 to 6 Years of Post-Graduation Professional Experience;
o Or a PhD with No More Than 3 Years of Post-Graduation Professional Experience.
* You Have Never Had a CERN Fellow or Graduate Contract Before.
Contract Duration: 24 Months, With Possible Extension Up to 36 Months Maximum.
Working Hours: 40 Hours per Week
This Position Involves:
* Work During Nights, Sundays and Official Holidays, When Required by Needs of Organization.
