Job Description
Your responsibilities involve working in the Project Office section of our Handling Engineering Group, specifically as a Mechanical Design Engineer for the FCC Study. Your tasks will include conceptual installation studies for each component and schedule simulations, as well as studying transport and handling aspects.
You will closely collaborate with your supervisor and be responsible for:
1. 3D modeling in Catia, taking into account the environment and handling operations.
2. Defining and designing handling tooling.
3. Following up on projects: participating in schedule forecasts and estimating handling resources.
This is an onsite position.
Your Profile
Skills
1. You should have proficient knowledge of a 3D drafting software such as Catia, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
2. Ability to prepare mechanical calculation notes for safety stakeholders.
3. Proficient in mechanical calculations with Ansys is an asset.
4. Spoken and written English or French are required, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.
We also provide language classes to improve your English or French language skills.
Eligibility Criteria
1. You must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
2. You have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and hold either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
3. You have never had a CERN fellowship or graduate contract before.
4. Applicants without a University degree are not eligible.
5. Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Additional Information
The job involves working in Radiation Areas, interventions in underground installations, and requires a valid driving license.
This position offers a monthly stipend ranging between 5196 and 5716 Swiss Francs, coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme, membership of the CERN Pension Fund, and more.
