Context and Justification In the Administrative Support Unit of the country office, provide transport support to the personnel of the WHO Sub Office (Bandundu and Mbuji-Mayi) and drive the official vehicles of the WHO, ensuring that the vehicles are maintained in good working order.
Job Description Objectives of the Program and Immediate Strategic Objectives
The administrative support units of the country offices (CSU) have been established to provide support to managers and staff members to enable them to fully exercise their responsibilities in the GSM environment and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations in all administrative and financial transactions.
Organizational Context The incumbent works under the supervision of the Sub Office Chief who identifies travel/missions. The incumbent has flexibility in planning and scheduling routes.
Summary of Assigned Tasks Under the direct supervision of the Sub Office Chief, the incumbent performs the following tasks:
Drive service vehicles to ensure the transport of authorized personnel and the delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items;
Welcome official staff at the airport and facilitate customs and immigration procedures, as needed;
Ensure daily maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc., perform minor repairs, and arrange for other repairs and regular maintenance, ensuring that the vehicle remains clean and in good working order;
Keep daily records of official trips, mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.;
Ensure that prescribed measures are taken in case of an accident;
Perform other tasks as needed based on the authorization of the Operations Officer.

Functional Competencies Thorough knowledge of driving, traffic regulations, safety rules, and daily vehicle maintenance;
Knowledge of first aid. Able to read, understand, and execute instructions and maps in the working language;
Drive carefully. Able to detect and explain breakdowns. Make adjustments and routine repairs. Ability to write a concise and accurate report of accidents.
Education Essential: Secondary education with a driver's license of categories B, C, D.
Desirable: Training in automotive mechanics would be an asset.
Experience Essential: At least two years of driving experience as a chauffeur.
Desirable: Experience within the UN system or with international NGOs would be an advantage.
Languages French: Intermediate
English: Beginner
Other Considerations Basic knowledge of word processing or other usual office software. Formal training or self-training in the use of standard office software.
Comments The job may require prolonged driving times, lifting mail bags, some weighing over 25 kg, and also involves risks while driving related to weather conditions and traffic.
