Menhir Photonics is a dynamic Swiss laser manufacturer offering laser solutions of unprecedented robustness and reliability to customers around the globe. Based in Switzerland, our team has strong expertise in the development and production of ultrafast lasers for the markets of aerospace, telecom, and metrology. For our ambitious business scale-up we are looking for a Laser Application Engineer.
Tasks
Your primary duties and responsibilities:
Support the development of systems using Menhir Photonics lasers, including amplifier development and testing, noise characterization, and optical performance optimization of the system
Perform optical test functions on lasers including noise (PN and AM), fceo, spectral, and temporal characterization of optical pulses
Coordinate R&D activities related to active stabilization of the lasers (frep, fceo and frequency-comb)
Provide regular progress reports and maintain timelines for multiple projects
Assist customers and partners in the usage of Menhir Photonics in their applications
Understand the health, safety, and environmental requirements and regulations Support high quality standards and practices according to ISO9001
Your background:
PhD in ultrafast laser technology and applications (completed within the last 3 years)
Familiarity with optical measurements equipment and testing set-ups
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
1-2 years work experience in the ultrafast laser market
Good knowledge of Python programming
Project management experience and professional certification (e.g., CPMP, PMP, Agile)
Professional knowledge of English is required, and basic knowledge of German and other European languages is welcome
Experience with femtosecond lasers, fiber lasers, and stabilization electronics is mandatory (applications without this experience will not be considered)
Requirements
The position is 80% to 100% (34-42 hours/week)

The workplace is located at our headquarters near Zurich in Glattbrugg, Switzerland
The preferred starting date is Nov 1st, 2024
