DevOps Engineer Role Overview
Meteomatics is a world-leading weather and climate data provider. We're answering the question of accurate weather data, helping hundreds of companies worldwide accelerate the energy transition and reduce their impact on the environment.
We need a DevOps Engineer to join our team of software developers working on our Weather API - the centralized access point to global weather data.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain the Weather API back-end as part of a cross-functional scrum team.
* Shape operational best practices within our community of practice.
* Improve knowledge sharing regarding operations within your team.
* Enhance existing pipelines and monitoring techniques to handle increasing API load.
* Contribute to keeping the Weather API available 24/7 (on-call duty).
Your Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or Systems Engineering, or relevant certifications.
* 3-5 years experience in developing and operating distributed systems.
* Expertise in monitoring and CI/CD (e.g. GitLab).
* In-depth experience with containerization (e.g. Docker) and service orchestration (e.g. Nomad).
* Professional experience in Python, Linux and Bash.
* Ideally, some C++ knowledge or openness to learn it.
* Good communication skills and ability to coach other team members on best practices.
* Swiss/EU citizenship or work permit is mandatory.
