Role description
Our Payments and Core teams are looking for Back-End Engineers to help build efficient, testable, and well-documented code that delivers real business value. Both Core and Payments teams focus on creating technical implementations that are shared across all Proton products: ProtonMail, ProtonCalendar, ProtonDrive, and ProtonVPN. The reliability of our core codebase is crucial for the consistent and smooth functioning of all our products. We aim to deliver the best experience for people who care about their security and privacy.
What you will do
* Design, build, and maintain large-scale products
* Ensure that all parts of the technical design are correctly incorporated
* Write clear, tested, and documented code
* Follow high engineering standards and best practices
* Enjoy the benefits of a flexible work environment that values independent contributors as well as teams utilizing Agile workflows
Job requirements
* At least 3 years of experience in designing and building highly scalable systems
* Fluent English language and strong communication skills
* Excellent knowledge of object-oriented programming paradigm (SOLID principles, design patterns)
* Good knowledge of SQL
* Experience in code testing
* Good understanding of web technologies (Rest API, HTTP, HTML, etc.)
Bonus points for:
* Experience with CI and test automation
* Experience with modern PHP
* Experience with Linux and containers (like Docker or Kubernetes)
* Experience with DevOps practices and implementations
* Professional experience with statically typed language
* Being active in the open-source community
