Job Description - Head, Climate Change and Food Security
About the Role
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is seeking a highly qualified professional to serve as the Head of the Climate Change and Food Security Unit in the Office of the Assistant Director General, Global Challenges and Partnerships Sector.
Main Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for directing the development, enhancement and implementation of the work of the Unit, including WIPO's strategy and initiatives in managing WIPO GREEN, with a focus on three primary areas:
1. Strengthening the ecosystem through building and expanding an efficient WIPO GREEN Network.
2. Actively reaching out to Member States through scaling up (and geographical diversification) of the Acceleration Projects (APs).
3. Increasing the quality of the knowledge center and strengthening the WIPO GREEN database technologies listings.
The incumbent will also manage, supervise and coordinate the work of staff, consultants and external contractors of the CCFS unit, determine priorities, allocate resources for the completion, timely and quality delivery of work products per results-based management principles.
Requirements
An advanced university degree in environmental studies, science or engineering, development studies, law, social sciences, or other closely related field. A first-level university degree plus two years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
At least ten years of relevant experience in the field of international development and project management in areas connected to the environment and climate change. Familiarity as well as practical usage and experience with IP. Strong managerial experience. Experience in creating, convening and expanding professional networks. Experience scaling up initiatives within a multilateral environment. Experience in driving initiatives at national and/or local levels. Experience in engaging with non-expert stakeholders.
Language Skills
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other UN languages.

WIPO staff members are international civil servants subject to the authority of the Director General and may be assigned to any activities, office or duty station of the Organization.
