The Senior Fine Art and Specie Risk Consultant is embedded into AXA XL Risk Consulting but works in close daily interaction with the Fine Art and Specie underwriting teams.
The primary scope of work encompasses assessing, advising, and managing risks associated with fine art, species, and collectible items. This role requires expertise in jewelry business, bank vault, cash in transit, art handling, packing, transportation, storage, and exhibition management, ensuring that our clients’ valuable assets are protected from potential loss, theft, damage, and environmental exposure, as well as any liability which may arise. A good knowledge and understanding of the art market will be beneficial.
Our clientele includes jewelry and watchmaking groups, banks, mining companies, manufacturers, diamond dealers, wholesalers, retailers, private collectors, and government and museum permanent collections.
You will play a crucial role in supporting the underwriting team with risk control initiatives, developing and promoting risk management and consultancy services for our Assureds and Brokers, and actively participating in industry initiatives. Your responsibilities will extend to working with institutional art professionals and private clients, including ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their families. This also encompasses collaboration with armored carriers, courier operations, check cashers, ATM servicers, and other relevant entities.
Depending on the skills of the job holder, it may also include support for other specialty lines, such as Marine.
The ambition of the role is to gradually expand and act as a Center of Excellence (CoE) and Transversal Manager across all regions providing a multifaceted approach and best practices within the organization in the area of Fine Art and Specie.
You will be based in our office either in Switzerland, France, or Germany; however, we are excited to have implemented our Smart Working initiative offering a hybrid way of working, combining both remote and office working.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
1. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for clients involved in Fine Art and Specie.
2. Attend and/or organise specialised non-GRASP and GRASP surveys, which is an AXA XL proprietary digital risks assessment tool for art warehouses, museum facilities.
3. Collaborate closely with underwriters to ensure a thorough understanding of coverage options, policy terms, and conditions related to insurance products.
4. Prepare and present detailed risk assessment reports and recommendations to clients.
5. Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in Fine Art and Specie risk management to provide informed guidance.
6. Advise clients on effective risk mitigation techniques and loss prevention strategies tailored to their specific operations.
7. Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, underwriters, and industry partners to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
8. Participate in industry events and networking opportunities to enhance professional knowledge and expand the company’s presence in the fine art and specie sectors.
9. Review quotes and renewal offers to provide risk control recommendations related to handling, transport, security, protection, and storage risks.
10. Attend meetings with brokers and clients.
11. Contribute to the development of innovative, technology-based risk control proposals.
12. Travel, conduct surveys, and visit clients as required.
You will report to the Chief Risk Consulting Officer, Specialty.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
1. Solid experience in loss prevention in Fine Art and Specie field, and/or
2. Several years of experience in Fine Art and Specie insurance.
3. Experience in art handling and storage, exhibition management, and security protection.
4. Outstanding understanding of Fine Art and Specie insurance products.
5. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
6. Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
7. Client and solution-oriented.
8. Able to conduct discussions at management level.
9. Analytical skills and innovative thinking.
10. Excellent communication skills in different cultural environments.
11. Fluent in English and at least one additional language; German or French. Any other language is an advantage.
